FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

Our clients in Bend, Sunriver, Sisters & Redmond have a number of insurance questions they often ask. We'll try to answer them here.

Does Geico cover glass?

Yes. In most cases, if your Geico auto policy includes comprehensive coverage, it covers windshield repair or replacement and other auto glass, and you pay only your deductible while Geico pays the shop the rest. Coverage lives under the comprehensive (sometimes called "other than collision") portion of your policy, not liability or collision.Oregon Windshields works with Geico policyholders across Bend, Redmond, Sisters, and Sunriver every week, so we can walk you through what your coverage means before you commit to anything. One important local note: Oregon does not have a zero-deductible glass law, so unlike a few states, your deductible does apply to glass claims here. That's why it pays to check your numbers first (see below).

What is the Geico glass claims phone number?

To file a Geico auto glass claim by phone, call Geico's claims partner, the SGC Network, at 1-800-510-2291. Geico routes glass claims through this line, and when you call, you can tell the agent you want Oregon Windshields to do the work.Have these ready before you dial:- Your Geico auto policy number

•  Your vehicle's make, model, and year
•  A short description of the damage (which window or piece of glass and how it    happened)
•  Oregon Windshields' phone number: (541) 636-0965
•  Zip code is 97701

Once the claim is started and Oregon Windshields is named as your shop, we're notified and reach out to schedule your appointment in Bend. If you'd rather skip the wait, you can also call us directly and we'll help you get the claim moving.

Do i need to use my insurance for windshield replacement or to fix a car window?

You do not! Sometimes, your deductible will be more than the cost of the repair, so you will not need to file. a claim. For example, if you have a $250 deductable for your auto glass coverage, you may just need to pay out of pocket to replace a side window. This is because the job is less than your deductble and your insurance company will not take responsibility for any of the repair. In this case, you can agree on a cash price with the glass shop.

How to file a Geico auto glass claim

4. When asked to pick a shop, choose "Shop of my own choice."

Option 2 - File in the Geico mobile app

2. Tap to submit a claim and select the "Auto" claim type.
3. Choose the damaged vehicle, then the damaged piece of glass. Geico's virtual assistant can help.

Option 3 - File by phone

2. Have your policy number and your vehicle's make, model, and year ready.
3. Describe the glass that needs repair or replacement.

After you submit the claim, Oregon Windshields is notified and we'll contact you to book your appointment. You never have to accept Geico's suggested shop. In Oregon, you have the right to choose who installs your glass.

Deductibles, OEM glass, and what to expect

Your deductible is the amount you pay before Geico covers the rest. On a glass claim, you typically pay your deductible and Geico pays Oregon Windshields directly for the remaining cost. Deductibles usually range from $0 to $250 to $500.Here's the part many drivers miss: if the repair costs less than your deductible, filing a claim doesn't help you. For example, with a $250 deductible, a smaller job like a single door glass or a rock chip repair may cost less than $250 out of pocket, so it makes sense to pay a cash price instead of opening a claim. Oregon Windshields can quote both a cash price and an insurance price so you can compare before deciding.A few more things to know:- **Premiums:** Filing one glass claim per year usually doesn't raise your rates, but every insurer sets its own rules, so ask Geico if you're concerned.

- Glass type: Oregon Windshields installs high-quality glass and can discuss OEM exact-fit versus aftermarket options for your vehicle. [FILL IN: confirm whether the customer's Geico policy covers OEM glass or aftermarket only, and any related terms - confirm with client]
- ADAS calibration: If your vehicle has camera- or sensor-based safety features (lane keeping, automatic emergency braking), a windshield replacement usually requires ADAS calibration afterward. Oregon Windshields performs ADAS calibration in-house at our Bend shop. All work at Oregon Windshields is backed by a limited warranty on labor and parts.
